Teaching Our Young Children Math And Science - 1052 Words
When it comes to teaching our young children math and science, they rely on concepts which are the building blocks of learning. Concepts begin in infancy so children manipulate concrete materials in every situation. They collect data, process that data and find ways to expose of that data. Young children are naturally mathematicians and scientists, learning vast amounts of information daily, as they explore the world by playing and moving around in their bodies. Play activities provide our children with the ability to learn concepts. Childââ¬â¢s play is revealed to be excellent unconscious preparation for future education in mathematics and natural sciences. The infants begin to perceive the world and eventually to track the movements of activity in their everyday surroundings. This is when physical movement begins. The child becomes aware of his limbs, and this starts the process of the child grabbing things and kicking his legs, feeling and finding things to put in his mouth. The Worst Day of my Life Free Essays
The Worst Day of my Life BY challenge It started out as a great summer day with my band class. Than all of a sudden something happened that has not happened In 16 years while the class was on a trip. What had happened had ruined everyoneââ¬â¢s day of fun. We will write a custom essay sample on The Worst Day of my Life or any similar topic only for you Order Now In June of 2011, we went to Kings Island to have a fun day before school started back up in August. We had planned to be there until pm. We split up into small groups and did our different things. I was walking around with my best friend, Taylor. We went and rode the Vortex, which was the first time that I had rode it since the last year of going with the class. It was about 9:30 when we got done riding the Vertex and Taylor wanted to go and ride the Fire hawk. I decided that I would ride It with her. We were walling In line talking until it was our turn to ride. When we got on and started buckling up, the seat belt wouldnââ¬â¢t go around me so I was told that I had to get off. Taylor said she would get off too but I told her to go ahead and ride because she was the one who wanted to ride it in the first place. I went to get off and the two people on the other side of her wouldnââ¬â¢t move their feet, so I had to climb over their feet and when I did, I tripped and fell. When I fell I heard my ankle pop. I tried to get up but I couldnââ¬â¢t move my feet. While the people that were watching the ride was on the phone with the Meetââ¬â¢s, Taylor had called our teacher to let him know that I fell and that they were taking me to the hospital. After she got off the phone with him, she called my mom to let her know what had happened and that I was on my way to the hospital. When the Meetââ¬â¢s got there, they had to carry me down the stairs In a chair. They put me In the back of one of the trucks that they use and took me to the clinic at Kings Island, where they put me Into the ambulance and got y teacher to go with me. He had to go since he was the one In charge of me for the day. When we got to the hospital, they took me back to get x-rays of my ankles. While we were waiting for the results, my teacher called my mom and let her know that I was at the hospital. She told him that she was already notified and that she was on her way there. The doctors came back with the results, they told me that I had fractured my left ankle and sprained my right one. My teacher had called the bus driver and let him know what had happened. He gathered up all of the other students and faculty; and come to the hospital. My teacher had stayed there with me until my mom got there. My mom had got to the hospital when the nurse was putting my ankle into a half cast. After my mom got there, the bus had pulled Into the parking lot. My teacher had left with the rest of the group to go back home. When they released me to go they were going to have me walk out to the car, but I wasnââ¬â¢t able to walk. They finally brought a wheelchair in for me to go out in. I had a hard time getting into the car because of the cast, so I had to sit sideways in the car. My mom wasnââ¬â¢t very happy because she had to come and get me from the hospital at 0:30 pm. We got back home around midnight, which was about an hour before the rest of the class did, because the teacher had the bus driver take the long way home. Another x-ray done to see how my ankle was doing. The doctor told me I was able to get the half cast off, but I had to wear a boot until I could walk without it. A few days later Taylor had come to my house to see how I was doing. I was doing better but my ankle was still hurting. I had gotten a lot of calls from faculty that went on the trip to see how I was doing, but I really didnââ¬â¢t mind them calling because that gave me money to talk to. I knew that they were all worried about me. I went to church the second Sunday after it happened and everyone there asked me what happened. I told them that I fell at Kings Island and fractured my left ankle and sprained my right one. That is one thing that I love about my church family because I know that they will always care about me. They always know when there is something wrong with me because of my facial expressions. When it came time to sign up for school the next year I was still in the boot and everyone kept saying ââ¬Å"youââ¬â¢re still in that thing. I said ââ¬Å"yeah and I am tired of it. â⬠It was getting a lot easier to walk with the boot on. I was able to stop wearing the boot two weeks before school started up, which I was very glad to get the boot off. That was the day that had ruined everyoneââ¬â¢s day of fun. I will never forget that day at Kings Island when I had hurt both of my ankles. Now every time that I go to Kings Island I will find a way to get hurt. This past summer, which was my last year going with the band class, I stepped in a hole; and fell and skinned my knee while walking with my group to go ride a ride. Nature and Impact of the Concept of Fascism
Question: Write an essay about Luigi Sturzo and discuss thenature and impact of the concept of fascism. Answer: Introduction On my reflection I will talk a little bit about Luigi Sturzo and then provide my point of view in terms of nature and impact of the concept of fascism. This individual was a dynamic person who balanced between politics and religion. I have also learnt that he was a well-known Italian Catholic priest in the lifetime, and most people considered him as a clerical socialist. On his political affiliation enabled him to command a large crowd in various sectors of the nation. In fact, people recognized him as the father of Christian democracy. Since he was the founder of the Partito Popolare Italiano, he could command the nation in matters of religion. However, he could not utilize the entire plan. That surfaced in 1924 when he went into exile with the rise of Italian fascism[1]. However, it was not the intention, the state contributed to such an action. Still in exile, he tirelessly communicated various aspects relating to his beliefs. He published close to 400 different articles, which we re critical of fascism. That helps different people across the world to have a wider understanding of various concepts that related to the subject. Later, he published the post-war Christian Democrats in Italy, which captured the attention of many people across the globe. Luigi Strurzos life has a different impact on the welfare of individuals across the world. Again, it influences the nature of the ideology of Fascism and National Socialism among the various people. I believe that the thoughts of the researchers help in making a superior comprehension of the idea that rotates around Italian Fascism. Moreover, it adds to recognizing different viewpoints, for example, the German National Socialism. I got a vast extent of issues that identifies with the national administration and additionally religion. Once more, the researcher puts much accentuation on bland dictatorship. That delineates the global center ideological credits that apply to all the rightist administrations and later moves to the verbal confrontation on critical ideological contrasts between the two. The whole similarity gives more knowledge into the different neo-rightist political gatherings in the period. These depict the degree to which they coordinate the ideological center components of one party rule. Accordingly, it empowers a person to settle on a reasonable choice that strikes back around such philosophies[2]. Understanding the life history of the researcher made it concei vable to recognize the Italian Fascism and the German National Socialism. This two angle relates in different ways. In actuality, they likewise place a few contrasts that make them remarkable in one way or the other. Initially, the two ideas stress on the part of the part and will instead of the individual levelheadedness. Luigi Sturzo life makes a superior comprehension of the negative perspective of the human instinct. It depicts that the human ability receives on the purported masses that does not have the scholarly abilities to comprehend the complex political inquiries. Subsequently, they are inclined to control from different types of purposeful publicity. Thus, senior lawmakers depend on such people to make an uproar in various parts of the economy. In any case, there exist a huge contrast between the abilities of such masses and additionally those of the political first class in which the political pioneers rise as the key determinants in controlling such experiences. In par ticular, such people ought to take the basic choices important to shield the national interest. In addition, the experience I got makes a more profound comprehension of different perspectives that identifies with political organizations of liberal vote based system. These two components make a variable hypothetical backing for a restricted type of the supposed Third-way corporatism middle of the road amongst free enterprise and socialism. The Italian one party rule has a few things that join them to make an all-inclusive measurement in different perspectives. Case in point, the traditionalists, liberals, and social democrats consent to the fluctuating degrees people may participate in amid the procedure. That provides food for the natural rivalry between the Italian Fascists and German National Socialist[3]. The contention relies on upon the human advancement. It is apparent that the human progress relies on upon the crucial battle for presence. In such a case, the stable countries and people are liable to succeed. They can just legitimize and embrace the simplest strategies th at guarantee their survival to the detriment of others. Government officials will dependably fulfill their necessities before considering that of different people. Indeed, that is an unfortunate experience that makes countries loses a considerable measure of assets. Conclusion In this entire analogy, the ideology of liberalism includes a form of liberal nationalism. Hence, I think individual countries should organize depending on the liberal constitutional government rather than by the divine rights of leaders. Just like the case of, Italian Fascists they developed an extreme expansionary ultra-nationalism that depends on ideas of their national supremacy and the justification of military conquest. Hence, I think abolishing the liberal democratic institutions will make agencies have an important role to play in any future fascist society. Bibliography Renton, Dave. The quality of Toyota started to fall impulsively despite attaining its 2010 Global Vision. With the potential fatal defects, it was essential for the Corporation to stop its manufacturing in several areas and recall back cars ranging to more than a million. The TMC crisis arose primarily due to the inability of the company to manage its quality given the hurried expansion and unique production philosophy. Besides, Toyotaââ¬â¢s poor quality production increa sed following the Second World War that left the company with competitive disadvantage. Conversely, Toyota Corp was suffering from financial problems while struggling with quality problems. In a war- desolated economy, Toyota considered it necessary to exploit low costs while producing a wide range of vehicles. Nevertheless, the competency that drove the American giant car manufacturers was inappropriate for car fabrication in Japan thus generating crisis. The American techniques highlighted large consignments made on specialized machines. Hence, the crisis augmented due to little capital meant for business venture after the warfare. That is, the system proved not to be cost-effective particularly for low-volume demand. The crisis also came due to surplus rework needed during the production of faulty products and surplus inventory of finished products, work in progress, and raw materials. In addition, the deprived product and instrument design resulting into the erroneous over-produ ction and overindulgent movement of products past the necessary production procedure also caused the crisis. Finally, the pointless waiting of tools and personnel for the subsequent production and over manufacturing ahead of demand are some wastes that increased the Toyota crisis. The adjustment of Toyota after the crisis In case of a major crisis, Toyota should adjust by shutting down its production or operations in areas that were affected most and particular products that underperformed in such a situation. For example, during the 2008 financial crisis the company closed down its production of large vehicles for some time and switched the factory that produced SUVs into that which produced Priuses. This adjustment was also evident during the Japanese earthquakes when Toyota suspended its operation in plants within the affected region. The company should also respond by eliminating some of its workforce especially the temporary workers in the affected facilities. This included ext ending leaves and making such employees work on part time basis. Toyota may similarly minimize the remuneration for plant managers and reduce bonus for every salaried workforce.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! The committee should be responsible for devising methods to explain the reasons for the adjustments and the benefits they have for the stakeholders. The seminars have small class sizes (10 to 24 students)to ensure that you get sufficient attention from your experienced college instructors as you arechallenged with the college-level material taught in your seminar. Each seminar ends witha final in-class presentation. At the end of the summer (typically, in August/September), a certificate of completion and letters of evaluation from both seminar instructors will be sentto you. Listed below are the seminars that were offered in Summer 2015. (Summer 2016 seminars have not yet been announced.) The basic application requirements for all applicants are: Be a rising high school sophomore, junior, orsenior If youââ¬â¢re an international student, you also must meet the following qualifications: Have a valid passport Have health insurance While these are the only requirements needed to apply, there are more qualifications that will help you get in. Read those below in our Tips on How to Get Insection. What Are the Program Dates for Summer 2016? The programs dates for Summer 2016 are: Session 1: June 19 - July 1, 2016 Session 2: July 10 - July 22, 2016 Session 3: July 24 - August 5, 2016 Why Should You Attend the BU Summer Challenge Program? Iââ¬â¢d highly recommend doing the Boston University Summer Challenge if you can afford it and it works in your summer schedule. I participated in a similar program at UCLA, and the program helpedme figure out whether I was interested in attending UCLA (which I found out I wasnââ¬â¢t) and what kind of coursework I wanted to pursue. Iââ¬â¢ve broken down the pros and cons of attending the programbelow. Pros of BU Summer Challenge Test out BU to see if itââ¬â¢s the right college for you. Take non-credit college coursesto helpfigure out what you might be interested in majoring in (you could find out you hate art and want to study biology or vice versa). It's better to figure this out in high school rather than halfway through college when you've already spent a lot of time and money on classes you ended up not liking. Receive two letters of evaluation(one from each of your seminar teachers) at the end of the program, which could be used as supplementary letters of recommendation for college. As a residential student for twoweeks, you get to test out living away from home for the first time. My friends and I who did the UCLA summer program struggled a lot less with homesickness once we started college than our peers. Have a college program on your resume for your college applications. While there is no guarantee of admissions and no guarantee that participating will better your chances of admission, the BU admissions office likes to see that youââ¬â¢ve shown a significant interest in the university. Doing this program will show them your interest. Cons of BU Summer Challenge Expensive (I discuss the exact cost below). You can't get college credit while some similar programs such as the Emory Pre-College Program do offer classes for credit. No financial aid available while at some other programs such as the Emory Pre-College Program, there is financial aid available. How To Apply and Application Requirements Applications are accepted on a rolling basis beginning in the January before the summer session. You typically receive aresponse via email within threeweeks of submitting your application. The application deadline for summer 2016 has not yet been posted. It will be posted on the BU Summer Challenge website after December 15th. However, as the website says, students who apply earlier "are more likely to receive the session and seminar selections of their choice," so you should submit your application ASAP. To apply, you must: Pay a $50 non-refundable application fee paid by credit card. Complete an online application that includes a 500 - 750-word personal statement describing why you want to attend the BU Summer Challenge Program. Email a copy of your complete high school transcript, including your fall grades, to summerhs@bu.edu. Additionally, international studentsmust: Complete an international student form. Submit a copy of your passport. If the primary language of instruction at your high school is not English, you will likely be asked to provide proof of proficiency such as a TOEFL score (though this is on a case by case basis). How Much Does BU Summer Challenge Cost? The feefor the BU Summer Challenge includes tuition, housing, and all meals in the dining hall. It also includes textbooks and all sponsored activities during the two-week program. The program cost for the BU Summer Challenge in 2015 was $3730.This may be changing for Summer 2016, but it hasnââ¬â¢t yet been announced.Additionally, as I mentionedearlier, there is a $50 non-refundable application fee (which will stay the same in 2016). Is There Financial Aid? Unfortunately, there is no financial aid available for this program. However, I have some advice for quick ways to raise money if you're hoping to attend but can't afford tuition: Try using an online crowdfunding platform such as Go Ennounce (which is specifically for students looking to fundraise), Go Fund Me, or IndieGoGo. Write lettersto friends, family, employers, local businesses and churches asking for support. Reach out to civic organizations in your area, such as Rotary and Kiwanis, to see if they could offer ascholarship. 3 Tips onFundraising Your BU Summer Challenge Tuition Tip #1: When you write your explanation on the crowdfunding platform, write your letters tothe community, or reach out to civic organizations, make sure you share your personal story and explain why the BU Summer Challenge program is important to you and will help you achieve your future goals. This explanationshould be similar to your personal statement for the program (which, as I said above, asks you to describewhy you want to attend the BU Summer Challenge Program). Tip #2: Share your fundraising campaign on social media and ask your friends and family to share your campaign on their social media if they're unable to donate. Tip #3: Write a thank you note for every donation you receive. Tips on How to GetAccepted If youââ¬â¢re hoping to attend the Boston University Summer Challenge, your high school transcript and personal statement need to show you off in a positive light. While there is no specific GPA required for admission, the program coordinators said they preferred applicants with at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA.To have the best shot of being accepted, you should try to get your unweighted GPA at or above a 3.0.While you may not have a lot of time before applying, there are ways to raise your GPA fast. The BU Summer Challenge Programdoes not tell the public itsacceptancerate, but the program website says they look for "motivated high school students who are taking a college preparatory curriculum. Your high school transcript and personal statement are both taken into account when admission decisions are made." Additionally, I spoke to the program coordinators who indicated that most students with a 3.0 or higher are accepted into the program. For your personal statement, make sure you show off your personality, explain your love for BU, and explain why you want to be a part of the Summer Challenge. Life in American Culture Personal Statement Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Life in American Culture - Personal Statement Example I shifted from my home country, The Republic of Belarus, to America. The way of living, traditions and values of America were different from my home country. At first, I found it difficult and impossible to adjust there as I was very weak in English. The condition of my written and spoken English may be compared to the situation of mother's English in Amy Tan's novel. As Amy describes it "I can think of no way to describe it other than "broken," as if it were damaged and needed to be fixed, as if it lacked a certain wholeness and soundness" (62). I used to get irritated and annoyed while communicating to friends, teachers and other associates. The difference of language and accent made me feel low and helpless. My social circle was shortened to an extent that I felt isolated and lonely. This was the worst effect of moving from my native land to a new state. Some close associates even gave me their own narratives in my home land in which they told about the difficulties they faced whe n they moved to a new place. These narratives made me more conscious when interacting with other people and they had a negative effect on my interactive cycle as I tried to be more accurate when talking in English, although it was quite impossible for me to do that in the beginning. I used to be a high-spirited and fun loving girl. ... I was somehow compelled to learn English but the great experience of learning other's language was more enjoyable than going out with friends. It was more interesting to express your feelings in a diary or in the college magazine than making fun of others and killing time in watching a movie. The new culture taught me to live with the hardships and discrimination as described by different narratives put by my close aides. These narratives had made me so conscious that before interacting in the new culture I was prepared to have a negative reply. Furthermore the narratives made me shape my identity according to what was required by the people in the new culture. The sense of freedom in this kind of culture made me go taste the feeling of freedom for the first time in my life. In this new culture, I became more independent regarding my dressing, educational selection and job. I had no conservative people around to stop me from wearing any sort of dresses. I was no more bound to wear traditional dress of Belarus. It was a great experience to show your creativity in the selection of clothes. I was also free to choose any subject out of thousands of courses available at different universities in the U.S. Despite of these eases and comforts of independence I soon realized the importance of my homeland and my family. With the passing time I figured out that if I do not find a job I would soon have to leave for Belarus. With this thought I started seeking for a job. This was the first time I tried to take a step alone. I learnt to stand up after falling down. I learnt to achieve and work hard. I started caring about my bills and other expenses. This aspect of living in a new culture
